In the Purdue OWL presentation where they showed all the formats of APA on how to write a paper, it was really interesting to see. Purdue really showed what you really needed to do onto write a paper because before I really didnt have that great of an idea of writing a APA format paper.
My favorite pages were numbers two and three because it showed information on how you cite your references the right way. Before I had no clue how to cite my references the right way because in my highschool they didnt mainly focus on that point of the paper. They made sure you did the topic, thesis statement right, the body pages and the conclusion right. So really this Citation part of the paper is somewhat new to me which is a crazy thing to hear. I learned that when you site whatever you use for a reference, for an example citing an author. You have to write down authors full name, last and first, what their topic is, the title and the date that it was issued on what he or she did. There are many other ways on how to site your reference points, like auther, website, dictionary, book, article and etc.
My opinion on having a page on citation is one of the most important pages to have in your essay because it shows where you got the information from, that makes it easier for the teachers to check your work and how it will show if you did it in your own work. Teachers now a days look for plagiarism which means did you copy information off of someone elses work.
I really wish in highschool that I got taught more onto making a citation page because it would have made my life so much more easier here at college. The reason why is I would have known that it was one of the more important pages to have so it could prove that I didnt plagiarise and I used my own work throughout the essay. Thank you Purdue on making this anatomy on arguement because I learned a lot just by reading the information. Now I know what I need to put in for information on my essays, also how to use citation to show that my work is true.

ReplyDeleteBetter late than never! At least now you know how to cite work, I bet some older people don't even know how to cite work. Anyways, I do agree with you that the citation page is one of the most important pages of the essay, it proves that you came up your own words from the "top of your head"
ReplyDeleteSame here. I wish I learned about it in high school. That would have made my life and my work a lot easier in college. I may have heard about it, but it went through one ear and out another, and I regret it. I realized it's very important because it proves you didn't cheat. It proves that you did the work yourself.
ReplyDeleteNow is a good time to get started, before you take all the really heavy courses! It's really important to cite, keep doing it until it's like breathing and not even a problem and you'll succeed in college.
