"Physical Therapy" for the body
By: Brent Dodge
Professional instructor/PT: Roger Gonzales Hibner
Professional instructor Roger Gonzales Hibner used to a be a former renowned dancer who is now a nationaly recognized Pilates master instructor. He is setting up a program called Pilates which is "a system of excercises that promote the strenghthening of the body, often using specialized equipment." He studied that its good for the human body maintain on a good excercise, so that the body will not get weak. Such as sitting down all day doing nothing you muscles, tendons and bones become not as strong as they should be if you excercise. He listed the pro's and con's on how doing physical therapy/pilates is good and bad for the body.
The good things about participating in these programs are that you will increase muscle strength, stability, the tendons will be much more stronger, less chances of getting injured while doing a activity and you will also stay healthy for a longer period of time. There is nothing bad about doing physical therapy because it is actually healthy for your body as time goes by. The things that can happen if you dont excercise or anything, muscles can become really weak, soft, bones can get brittle, more chances of tearing something because your body isn't used to the impact onto what you are doing for an activity. Today there are a lot of people that are doing therapy because they want to stay healthy for a longer period of time, instead of reaching the age 70+ and having a hard time walking. They will do all the excercise they can right now so they will not have that problem in the future.
I have had a lot of experiences on doing physical therapy, but only due to injuries. If you play a sport it would be fine because your doing all the excercise in the games and mostly practices. I have noticed many things about my body after doing therapy doing therapy. For my knee, I have to do therapy because I dislocated my knee cap and stretched out the ACL. Doing therapy it will make the muscles around the patella a lot stronger, make the ACL back to its normal width and most of all it will prevent it from happening again in the future. My opinion about this is people should do some therapy/pilates for the body because it will be much more easier for you in life for doing things, also you will stay healthy for a much longer period of time.
I think that Roger Gonzales Hibner is trying to do is, trying to convince people to join his program so that you can maintain on having a healthy body. Having less chances of getting injured and even staying a lot more healthy than possible when you reach an older age in life, I really think that people should follow onto what he is saying because it's worth doing. For your life what would you want, be healthy, less chances on getting injured, and staying healthy when you get old or not be healthy, get injured very easily, when get older in life have many problems such as back problems and not being able to walk. You should think about it because you only have one life you should make the best of it.

"Nafsi in Lunsford"
After reading Mysterious Connections That Link Us Together by Azar Nafisi. I realize that Azar really believes in empathy, which means like as a feeling. The capability to share and understand another's emotions and feelings. It is characterized as the ability to "put put oneself into anothers shoes." Azar has been through many things in his life time that he wants to have other people realize how it feels.
Another saying I think Azar is saying how some people really need to see how it is in other peoples shoes. How much pain he has gone through in his country, as far as seeing "children left or phaned in Darfur, or a women taken to a football stadium in Kabul and shot to death because she is improperly dressed". They talk about those certian people about whats wrong with them and they dont realize what they have to go through in life. So thats why that person needs to see how it feels and get into their shoes for a week. Just like me, in the past I have had some kids make fun of me because I wasn't able to hear good at all. With my hearing aids on, yeah I can hear really good, but with them off I cant hear a single thing. I wish they could become deaf and go for a day to see what I go through because it is not easy. I believe that deaf people have to work ten times harder than hearing people especially for the ones that went to hearing schools all through their life like me. This is talking all about the emotions that people have to go through, I can connect this to chapters 2-4 in lunsford. When they talk about how emotional arguments work. By explaining how words, images, and sounds can all arouse emotions to people. They are always effecting mental part of your body. All these stories that we have been reading have been building upon these chapters.
Thats what my thought is about this story, how whenever someone makes fun or talks about another person about their life. He wants that person to see how life is for them by walking in their shoes. People really need to stop doing that because it is really none of their business, I actually feel bad about the people that this happens to. By getting mocked on everyday on how, they look, dress and etc.

Lunsford (blog #2)
I read the article about "If Only We All Spoke Two Languages" by Ariel Dorfman. When I read this I really got a little sad about this because of what he had to go through in life by how he moved to New York not knowing any English language. Only knew Spanish by then and he was only 2 1/2 years old when he had to go to the hospital in New York. He had to go through this all his life by needing to know two languages by going to a lot of schooling to learn it. I would imagine that he wants this bilingual method to happen so he can talk to people from america and whenever his family or people like him come to visit america he can still talk to them. Most importantly is to learn english because america is all enlish. Now at an older age he has been moving back and forth moving to America and back out, such as going to Chile for schooling. He needed to go to school again to learn Spanish because when he was in America he forgot everything in his own language, now that he has gone for school for this, he is now bilingual. Which means he can speak two different languages, he wants America to turn into a bilingual country. I really agree with this man because it would be really cool, first off to be able to speak to other people that know Spanish and also to learn about their culture. I totally agree that this should happen, for America to turn into a bilingual country. Some people wouldn't want it to happen because they may not want to learn another language, dont like other people from a different culter or to lazy to learn the language. But if you think of it we are kind of, by us know American Sign Language and English. For americans this would really be a good idea because you would get to learn about other different cultures around the world. What they have to go through, what and how the other languages sound like. How it sounds really unique from english by how other languages sound like just making noises and sounds to us. I would like to hear how many other people would react to this and see what they think of. This arguement was really effective and I didn't appreciate it because I really feel bad for the fact that other people from other countries visiting a beutiful country called america, and not knowing any enlish. Also that americans dont know what they are talking about whenever they need help or anything like that. This reading connected to chapters 2,3,4 and mostly talking about chapter 2 by saying what peoples emotions are like. What they are trying to do different and trying to figure something out from themselves.
Paul and Elder (publish blog #1)
I read all the Paul and Elder prompts from pages 22 to 36 in the book called Criticle & Creative Thinking. The prompt that I agree mostly on is the first prompt from pages 22 to 25 called elements of thought, the reason why is all the explanations in the prompt I think are all correct and really good to follow because if you follow these rules will succeed a lot of things in your schooling life. When your going to be an effective thinker, there are a lot of things to do, such as you really have to go beyond your thinking, really need to apply many different standards in your writing to asses your thinking. There is another name for these rules, it is called the Intelluctual Standards. "The Intelluctual Standars of precision derives from the fact that we can often need details and specifics to accomplish on our purpose". (paul and elder 23)
When you write a paper you have to think about using the elements, such as what is the purpose, goal, or end in a view, have questions along the way about the issues that you have confronted with, point of view or frame of reference about what you are really trying to talk about, all the implications that you will use so it will show others where you reasonings are taking you. There are many more to follow, also when I read this prompt it really made me think about the fact that I could use these points for all my writings. When I read this I had a moment of joy in my head, because I am really glad that I read this book because the information about intellectual standars is really going to help me on all my writings. It will get me a good grade if I follow these points because this sais almost everything you need for an essay. "Intellectual Standards are also based on following, clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, logic, significance and fairness."(paul and elder 24) You will also being needing to follow these points, not just in schooling, but also out in life in what you are trying to do. To try to get the teacher to like your writing not yourself, because your not the one grading the paper. To go beyond the point of your topic, get a lot of explainations, by breaking down a lot of facts and ideas about your topic. I have one question about this prompt and it is, what is breadth? All through high school I never heard a teacher once say that till now.

300 word essay
Hi my name is MJordan23, so far at Gallaudet University has been really a blast for me. Getting to meet new people that I have never seen or talked to before, starting to learn american sign language to be able to communicate to the people that are deaf and heard of hearing is really fun. I dont know a lot of sign right now, but everyday I have been improving by learning a bunch of new signs everyday by either the teachers helping me or my friends. I wanted to come here because since im heard of hearing, I wanted to learn about the deaf culture. My home is in Maine where it is a lovely place, a lot of nature and things to see. The fall is my favorite season in Maine when it turns beautiful, where all the leafs turn brown, orange, yellow and more also thats when it gets a little cooler in temperature. The things that I loved doing while I was at home was to go hunting and fishing with my Dad, brothers and friends. I loved going four-wheeling, snomobiling, jet-skiing. When it came to winter I loved to go skiing to Sugarloaft Mountain, the biggest skiing resort in the entire north and east coast. In high school I played three different sports for all 4 years. I played football, basketball and baseball. Now in college I only play 1 sport which is baseball because I think ill go furthest in this sport, another reason is I just had surgery on my knee so it would be hard for me to play basketball or football with the injury. Now at Gallaudet I cant do much of those things anymore, like what I did in Maine because I have never been to this place before and I am now just starting to pick up the things that I can do here. Cant really do much because its not like Maine where here its a huge city and Maine is all woods, lakes and mountains.
I really am starting to like Gallaudet because the people here are really nice to meet with and there are a lot of things to see here especially for me because I have never really left down to the south.
